The Best Street Style Trends of London Fashion Week 2023

As Fashion Month goes out with a bang, culminating in a nine-day festival in Paris from February 27 - March 7, the trends across New York, Milan and London have shared as much indiviuality as they have a common thread. An opportunity for everything from the established fashion houses to up-and-coming designers to showcase their vision across the runways, the street style scene is always one of our favorites: a celebration of individuality and uninhibited style in all its forms.

In London, the street style has accounted for the colder climate, represented through oversized outerwear and layer upon layer. In this arena, motocross jackets remain a firm favourite among fashion week aficionados, alongside floor-length trenches, shearling jackets, utilitarian attire and lots and lots of bomber jackets in all their finest forms - from leather and metallic, to satin and spray style variations. Refreshingly, a move away from formal silhouettes and refinery, in favor of relaxed pieces, high-low dressing and elevated everyday wear has been evident across the month. In essence, a continuation of many of the A/W trends, giving us the opportunity to enjoy longevity in investment pieces we've added to our wardrobes.

Head-to-Toe Black Outfits

The key here is to take a classic always-on trend and give it a fresh twist. Take London-based model Sarah Lysander, who features in our 2023 P.E Edit campaign, spotted outside the Nensi Dojaka show during London Fashion Week - matching a longline black varnished coat with a mesh top, neat flares and military boots. See also: Jourdan Dunn pairing a mini bodysuit and trench, Tiffany Hsu matching a leather/shearling jacket with oversized black jeans, Johannes Huebl in a black pants and jacket combo, and Leonie Hanne in relaxed tailoring.

Bold Acid Brights

Out of all the Fashion Week locations, London is largely known and celebrated for its exploration and creativity. As much as it delivered clean and classic wardrobe fundamentals, so too did it present an explosion of fun, color and energy. True to its reputation for punk, boundary-breaking design and a youthful spirit, London Fashion Week brought a heavy serving of bold acid brights across the runways as well as on the street. If you're feeling the 'Key Lime Pie' trend, go for full head to toe sulphur tones like the head-to-toe take seen at the Richard Quinn show, weave it into your look with finer details and accessories a la Simone Rocha's show, or use it as a point of focus with a color pop bag or sports crop to brighten up everyday staples.

Denim on Denim

It doesn't matter which fashion capital you're referring to - this wardrobe essential is a street style staple in New York, London, Paris, Milan, Berlin, Copenhagen and beyond. The good news? It seems however you prefer to wear it - denim-on-denim, dressed-up denim, skirts, dresses, fitted jeans and roomy, slouchy, wide-leg jeans are in, in a big way. In all iterations, and all washes.

Special mention, too, should go to minor yet prevalent trends paraded across the past month that we are also very much here for - digital blur print, wide-leg pants and puddle hemlines, whiter-than whites, sheer separates, bras as tops, pairing a graphic tee with tailoring, leggings with stirrups and a touch of motocross.
