At P.E Nation, we’ve always aspired to create our brand for all women. To be worn all day, every day. P.E Nation Baseline underpins our P.E creativity with a strong core. It is high-performance, premium quality and made to fit into any lifestyle, any day, anywhere. It is also our most sustainable basics collection yet. These are your go-to favourites, both supportive and easy-to-wear to help you make the most of every day.
When considering our P.E Nation muses, the common thread of those who inspired, was that they were all strong, independent women that manage their busy lives with an unwavering dedication to their families, and to keeping themselves and those around them healthy and happy.
Over the coming months, we will highlight six incredible women we admire, that will become the faces of P.E Nation Baseline collection. Truth, embracing life’s setbacks, creating balance, the importance of spending time in nature, and a deep love for family and friends power these everyday women that are doing it all. Simply put, getting back to basics.
Our first muse, Connie Mitchell, best known as a formidable singer-songwriter for the multi-award winning electro-pop band, Sneaky Sound System. Connie is an intensely creative woman that maintains her busy life with a few non-negotiables; family, exercise and a healthy sense of humour. The exuberant Bondi local, known just as well for her eclectic fashion sense as she is for her sweet tunes, gets life done with a sense of joy, by maintaining a strong foundation of essential family time and self-care. We asked her to give us a little insight into her day-to-day and here is what she said:
What or who do you define as your core, your core purpose? I care about other people and I want to always be thoughtful. I need to maintain a sense of strength but be supple, and I must keep moving forward.
What is your greatest personal passion? What makes you thrive personally? I love brutalist architecture, I love erotic Japanese anime, I love fast cars, I love Bladerunner, I love minimalist art, I love tough techno, I love beautiful soul music, I love working out and really sweating, I love delicate and beautiful food, I love a party, I love to travel but I love to be at home even more, I love making music, I love singing and performing, I love making babies and I love my husband. These are my passions, all of them…and when I can indulge in them, I thrive.
What is your greatest professional passion? What makes you thrive professionally? Great ideas and magic creative moments. When they come the world just stops for me, and I never forget those moments.
How do you use your unique voice and platform to share your vision? By being part of those magic moments and creating something that I am totally connected to is very special. When you make music you love and are proud of, it is such a joy to perform. What we do is not changing the world, but it’s nice to know you can warm someone’s heart or bring joy and love to someone’s life. That’s simple, but still rewarding.
Where does your inspiration come from? Everywhere. All of my passions inspire me…if you have your antenna up it comes from all sorts of weird and wonderful places.
How do you keep going despite real life/mum/work/relationship jugggles? Well that's what you have to do, right? I am very fortunate and grateful that I do something I love for work, and I do it with my husband…and we have three beautiful children and the luxury of lots of time together. Our life is a fortunate one and I feel blessed every day. Your life is not dictated by your children, they move with you.
If you can, what do you do for you every day? I have to make my bed. I have to exercise at least once a day, the harder and tougher the better. I have to kiss my loved ones.
What do you do to take things back to basics? It’s all about spending time with my family, sharing a simple meal or going for a swim. When I have my family around me it doesn’t matter where I am, I feel like I am home. And you can create your family, it doesn’t necessarily have to be the family you were born with.
What is on the horizon for you? What is that silver lining? That would be an Aston Martin DB9 or making an album with Vangelis.
What sparks joy in you? New beginnings, the twilight hours, science fiction, sharp minds and thoughtful ideas, giving and more giving, good company, my children, my husband, long phone-calls, double entendres.
